Counter clad in backlit Pietrafina

Exclusive Paraná technology

Natural stone, light and strong.

Pietrafina reduces natural stone from 20 mm to as little as 5 mm thick, making slabs up to 70% lighter.

  • 20 → 5 mmthickness
  • up to 70%lighter
  • up to 5×more impact-resistant

How it works

A thinner stone, with a structure that supports it.

After cutting, the stone is bonded to a reinforcing backer: either a polypropylene honeycomb or ACM (aluminum composite).

The result is a lighter, more flexible and stronger slab that expands what natural stone can do.

Lightness

65 → 17 kg/m²

Stone weighing roughly 65 kg/m² can be brought down to about 17 kg/m² with Pietrafina technology. A weight reduction of up to 70% that makes handling, transport and installation easier.

Strength

up to 5×

The backer applied after cutting multiplies the stone’s impact resistance. With Pietrafina technology, stone can become up to five times more impact-resistant than standard stone, while retaining its natural flexibility.

Translucency

When light passes through stone.

Depending on the stone’s mineral properties, Pietrafina technology can reveal a translucent effect.

The color of the material does not affect the process; what varies from one stone to another is the intensity of the translucency. With lighting, this effect can turn the surface into part of the experience of the space itself.

Talk to a specialist
Is Pietrafina a type of stone?

Pietrafina is an exclusive cutting and reinforcement technology applied to natural stone. It reduces standard slabs from 20 mm to as little as 5 mm thick and can cut their weight by up to 70%.

Which stones can receive the technology?

Pietrafina technology can be applied to the marbles and granites in the Paraná catalog, according to the characteristics and properties of each material.

How can I identify Pietrafina?

You can recognize it by the lightness of the slab and the backer bonded to the stone. The reinforcement is either a polypropylene honeycomb or ACM (aluminum composite).

Is stone with Pietrafina more fragile?

No. The technology was developed precisely to increase the stone’s impact resistance, while also reducing its weight and thickness.

Can Pietrafina be used on ceilings?

Yes. The reduced weight makes handling easier and allows ceiling applications, provided the technical and installation specifications of each project are followed.

How does lighting work with this technology?

When the stone has mineral properties suited to translucency, Pietrafina can be combined with lighting. LED lights in different color temperatures can be used, depending on the effect desired for the project.
